Scentsy Fundraiser

We are pleased to announce the return of the Scentsy Fundraiser with a portion of all proceeds going to LOYAL's adoptable dogs!

We have had a very high volume of dogs with medical needs this summer including tumor removals, dental surgeries, and even a liver shunt surgery which cost us over $9,000. The bills continue to pile up in this very slow adoption season, and we could really use your help!

LOYAL has again partnered with Scentsy and our wonderful consultant and fellow dog lover, Deana, so that every order made through our special, personalized page, will net LOYAL 15% in donations. Amazing!

Did you know that Scentsy products make amazing gifts. Why not get your Christmas shopping done early! Looking to add some warmth and comfort to your home this fall or winter? Check out Scentsy's holiday-inspired warmers and scents!

To order within Canada, please visit https://deanawehr.scentsy.us/Scentsy/Buy?partyId=105385547, and please share with all of your friends and family on Facebook where an event page has been created: https://www.facebook.com/events/441112895941210/.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and happy shopping!

Dog of the Week: Abi

I had the great pleasure of spending 2.5 hours in the car with Abi when I transported her from her temporary foster mom to her long-term foster mom. We met in a parking lot, half asleep, at 6am and as soon as I said her name she ran over and jumped into my arms.  She rode the entire way on my lap and between naps and loads of kisses (whether I wanted them or not! lol), we became fast friends.

Abi is a happy, outgoing, spunky, 1-year-old, 10 lb. Dachshund-Terrier mix who loves other dogs and all people she comes in contact with. Until recently, Abi lived on the streets of Mexico and then at the Humane Society of Cozumel. She was adopted by a tourist who came through on a cruise ship, but unfortunately when the ship left the island, Abi was left behind.

LOYAL has received a number of dogs from Cozumel in the last few years and all of them have had loving, loyal temperaments; Abi is no different. She made the long trek to Canada in June and is now residing with her foster family in Ottawa where she is awaiting her forever family to come along and snatch her up. And oh, what a lucky family that will be!

Abi loves going for walks, riding in the car, playing in the yard and snuggling with anyone who will offer her a lap to curl up on. She is working on her house training and making improvements every day. She is crate trained and happy to have her own space during the night where she sleeps without complaint.

With ongoing training, a consistent schedule and lots of love, Abi is going to turn into an amazing adult dog.  And who could resist that scruffy, mischievous face?!

Will you be the lucky family to adopt Abi? Apply online today and one of our volunteers will be in touch.

Happy adopting!

Rescue Round-up: July 5, 2012

Welcome to our Weekly Rescue Round-up where we update you on all the rescue happenings within LOYAL. Thanks for stopping by the blog, and be sure to share or like this on Facebook and tweet about it, too! Spread the LOYAL love!

{SPECIAL ALERT - MISSING PUPPY MILL POOCH and FORMER LOYAL FOSTER DOG!!}

Carter, a LOYAL pooch and puppy mill survivor adoption in late May 2012, has gone missing from his forever home in Newcastle, ON. Carter has been missing for days, but we can report that there have been a few sightings in the Mill and King area of downtown Newcastle. Posters have been distributed far and wide and Carter has been listed on Helping Lost Pets.

Carter is a white, 11-pound Bichon-Poodle mix who was lost wearing a brown and gold collar with a blue LOYAL ID tag (shaped like a dog house) and a red rabies tag. Carter will be scared and confused, so please do not chase him. If you spot Carter, please call the number on his LOYAL tag (705-772-4916) so that someone can immediately come to the area.

Search parties are being organized and volunteers have been scouring the area. If you are interested in joining a search, please contact Linda at lstriemer@sympatico.ca for more information. And, of course, if you spot Carter or know of his whereabouts, please immediately contact us at the number above.

Updates will be posted on our Facebook page as we receive them.
